Despite the SNP only operating in Scotland, they were the third largest party in Parliament until the 2024 General Election. Due to the devolved nature of Scotland, their leader in Westminster is different from their overall leader – which can sometimes create complicated situations!
Their most famous selling point is their desire for Scottish independence, however, outside of this they’re often known as a ‘left-wing’ party with strong youth support. As a result of this, they sometimes compete with the Labour Party for votes.
